Literacy
Oral Language Supporting Early Literacy (OLSEL) is an ongoing focus at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart to facilitate the development of language skills of our students. OLSEL focuses on four key areas of literacy development;
Literacy is taught for 2 hours daily throughout the school where students are given numerous opportunities to explore and develop their abilities in Reading, Writing, Spelling, Speaking and Listening.

- Phonological and phonemic awareness;
- Understanding and using longer and more complex sentences;
- Awareness and application of the Story Grammar Sequence; and
- Vocabulary knowledge.
