Sustainability

At OLSH we have been working really hard to reduce our energy consumption since the start of our Resourcesmart journey. We joined the Resourcesmart program in 2012 and have made a considerable reduction in our energy use since then. Below is a graph showing our schools energy use and its reduction since starting on the program. The orange line is Sustainability Victoria’s benchmark of where they would like to see schools sitting at, and our school is below this line, which is a great effort from everyone at OLSH. Student leaders were involved in an energy audit and then some of the recommendations were put in place such as switch off reminders on all light switches to remind everyone to switch off lights when leaving the rooms. Fridges & freezers are turned off during the school holidays and we have also had all lights replaced with LED lighting. These actions are all contributing to our lower energy use.
