Religious Education
Our Catholic Identity is nurtured through the teaching and learning of Religious Education and is central to life at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart. It provides the foundation for our school community and underpins all aspects of school life.
Our Religious Education program is based on the Awakenings curriculum. It supports students to explore and understand the Catholic faith through inquiry, discussion and reflection.
Students are encouraged to connect their learning about faith with their own experiences and the world around them. They develop an understanding of Catholic beliefs, traditions and values that is appropriate to their age and stage of learning.
Awakenings encourages students to listen, ask questions and engage in meaningful dialogue with others. It presents the Catholic faith in ways that connect with the world we live in today, while recognising and supporting students’ development throughout their years of schooling.

The new Awakenings continues to promote an approach to teaching and learning that encourages dialogue with one another and with the world around us. It seeks to understand and present the Catholic faith in the context of our current society. It also takes account of the stages of development of students across their years of schooling.
